Error: The partner did not specify the domain to relay the emails

This error message often occurs when the routing is not correct. In the Email Routing section on the user information page, you can specify where emails addressed to that user should be delivered. By default, mail is delivered to the recipient’s Gmail inbox and to any additional destinations specified for the domain (and set up using the domain-level email routing options). You can also forward the email to additional email addresses.

To forward addressed messages to specific recipients:

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console.
  2. Go to the user account. You can do this by searching or browsing:
    • Search: Enter the username in the search box at the top of the Google Admin console, then click Find accounts.
    • Browse: Click Users. If you created an organizational structure, select an organizational unit in the organizational structure on the left.
  3. Click on the user account to display the user information page.
  4. Click Account.
  5. In the Email routing section, click Add another destination.
  6. In the text box in the new row, enter the email address to which you want this user’s messages to be forwarded.
You can’t forward mail to an email address hosted by G Suite. This includes other addresses in your domain. To forward a user’s mail to a G Suite address, the user must set up a forwarding address in their Gmail account.
  7. Clear the Change SMTP envelope check box if you don’t want the G Suite mail server to update the recipient’s address when forwarding mail. By default, the forwarded message’s To: field is changed by the G Suite mail server to the email address you specified in step 5. For example, if the mail server forwards a message addressed to [email protected] to gebruikerX@aanvullende_bestemming.com, the To: field is updated to gebruikerX@aanvullende_bestemming.com. Clear the check box if you want the forwarded message to appear in the new Inbox with the original address [email protected] in the To: field.
  8. If you don’t want this user’s mail to be forwarded to additional domain-wide destinations, uncheck the Inherit routes from domain box. Domain-level destinations are set on the Email Settings page. In most cases, it is not necessary to uncheck this box.
  9. To prevent email from being delivered to this user’s Gmail inbox, uncheck G Suite email.
Note: Select at least one of the check boxes under Destination:. If you don’t, email won’t be delivered for this user. If the user is part of an organizational unit that has non-Gmail mailbox routing configured, make sure that the G Suite email check box is selected.
  10. Click Save changes.

It takes up to an hour for the changes to take effect in all of Google’s systems.
